Remember you don’t have to copy to be  pirate, you can set your own style and fit together as a couple however you like. You can be anyone from Jack Sparrow to a Commodore – from Elizabeth Swan to Anne Bonney there are hundreds of pirate costumes and different pirate looks

In the 1920s the film  “The Sheik” staring Rudolph Valentino initiated a fad in Arabian styleacross America. … and a deep association of the desert nomad and romance. Fancy dress heaven carry an impressive range of romantic arab and harem costumes in the style of Valentino

Memoirs of a Geisha was a film an best selling novel by Arthur Golden. It tells the romantic but sad story of Sayuri Nitta, a retired geisha allegedly based upon Mineko Iwasaki, a retired geisha the author had interviewed for background information while writing the novel. Although in the account Samurai do not come across as noble and impressive as we might like to think a traditional Japanese couple make a beautiful and civilized couples fancy dress costume that give great room for elegance and exoticism.

One of the great romantic, yet escapist couples themes of all times is Bonnie and Clyde.

In real life Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were outlaws who traveled the US during the Great Depression. Their exploits captured the attention of the American public during the early 1930s particularly the dozen-or-so bank robberies, shoot out with police officers and committed several civilian murders.

In modern popular folklore and for fancy dress their exploits have been  romanticised into a glorious roadtrip by Arthur Penn’s 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde. with the fabulous Warren Beatie and Faye Dunnaway. For fancy dress purposes the key items are the Tommy Gun, the Zoot Suit or 1930s style suit, and flapper or moll costumes.

But be careful! The couple themselves were eventually ambushed and killed in Louisiana by law officers.
